Concurrency and Coordination Runtime $133.82 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Concurrency and Coordination Runtime (CCR) is an asynchronous programming library based on .NET Framework from Microsoft distributed with Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio (MSRDS). Even though it comes with MSRDS, it is not limited to modelling robotic behavior but can be used to express asynchronous behavior in any application. CCR runtime includes a Dispatcher class that implements a Thread pool, with a fixed number of threads, all of which can execute simultaneously. Each dispatcher includes a queue (called DispatcherQueue) of delegates, which represent the entry point to a procedure (called work item) that can be executed asynchronously. The work items are then distributed across the threads for execution. A dispatcher object also contains a generic Port which is a queue where the result of the asynchronous execution of a work item is put. Each work item can be associated with a ReceiverTask object which consumes the result for further processing. An Arbiter manages the ReceiverTask and invokes them when the result they are expecting is ready and put on the Port queue. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Client/Server Runtime Subsystem $81.25 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Client/Server Runtime Subsystem, or csrss.exe, is a component of the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. It provides the user mode side of the Win32 subsystem and is included in Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, Server 2008 and 7. Because most of the Win32 subsystem operations have been moved to kernel mode drivers, in Windows NT 4 and later CSRSS is mainly responsible for Win32 console windows, GUI shutdown, and threading. It is critical to system operation; therefore, terminating this process will result in a Blue Screen of Death. Under normal circumstances, CSRSS cannot be terminated with the taskkill command or with Windows Task Manager, though it is possible in Vista if the Task Manager is run in Administrator mode. Dynamic Language Runtime $114.71 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is a technology for communication between multiple applications under Microsoft Windows or OS/2. Dynamic Data Exchange was first introduced in 1987 with the release of Windows 2.0. It used the Windows Messaging Layer functionality within Windows. Therefore, DDE continues to work even in modern versions of Windows. Newer technology has been developed that has, to some extent, overshadowed DDE (e.g. OLE, COM, and OLE Automation); however, it is still used in several places inside Windows, e.g. for Shell file associations and for the copy, cut and paste functions. The primary function of DDE is to allow Windows applications to share data. For example, a cell in Microsoft Excel could be linked to a value in another application and when the value changed, it would be automatically updated in the Excel spreadsheet. The data communication was established by a simple, threesegment model. Each program was known to DDE by its application name. Each application could further organize information by groups known as topic and each topic could serve up individual pieces of data as an item.
